What standing seam panels do we make?
Snap-lock and mechanical lock panels in Galvalume steel, aluminum, copper and zinc. Seam heights are 1, 1.5, 1.75 and 2 inches.
A standing seam panel runs from eave to ridge in one piece. Its seams stand above the water on the roof, and clips under each seam hold the panel, so no screw passes through the face.
We cut every panel to the length on your cut list. For very long panels, ask about delivery to your site. We fabricate from coil by Englert, Fabral, ATAS, UCP and SAF.
What are the specs of our two main profiles?
Our snap-lock 1.75-inch and mechanical lock 1.5-inch panels cover most roofs. The table lists their widths, metals and typical minimum slopes.

We also make standing seam with 1-inch and 2-inch seams. Put the seam type, seam height and panel width on your cut list, and your written quote confirms the rest.
Snap-lock or mechanical lock: which should your roofer order?
Snap-lock suits most steeper house roofs, typically 3:12 and up for our 1.75-inch panel. Mechanical lock suits low slopes and snowy roofs, typically down to 1/2:12 over solid deck for our 1.5-inch panel.
Snap-lock panels press together along the seam, with no seaming tool. That keeps installation simple on steep, plain roofs.
Mechanical lock panels are folded closed on the roof with a seaming tool. A 90-degree fold is a single lock, and a 180-degree fold is a double lock. The folded seam holds tighter, so it suits low slopes and long runs.
Snow is the other deciding factor. Sheffield Metals warns that snap-lock seams are more prone to coming apart as built-up snow and ice move, and suggests mechanically seamed panels in snowy regions.

Which metal and gauge should you order?
Galvalume steel suits most inland roofs, and aluminum suits sites near salt water. Copper and zinc suit visible accents and historic homes.
- Galvalume steel: 26, 24 or 22 gauge, painted in PVDF or SMP.
- Aluminum: .032 or .040 inch, painted.
- Copper: mostly 16 oz, in its natural finish.
- Zinc: 0.7 mm or 0.8 mm.
A lower gauge number means thicker steel. Thicker panels resist dents and show less waviness on wide, flat pans.

PVDF or SMP: which finish should you choose?
PVDF (Kynar 500 type) holds its color and resists chalking longer. SMP costs less and suits sheds and outbuildings.
Colors come from the coil makers’ charts. There is no minimum order in stock colors, while custom (non-stock) colors carry a minimum quantity.

Which trim and flashing come with the panels?
Every edge piece the roof needs, made to match the panels in the same metal, finish and color. Trim is formed on our 10-foot CNC folder and typically takes 1-2 days, depending on color and gauge.

What does your roofer need to send us?
A cut list: each panel length and count, plus the profile, metal, finish, color and trim list. We work from your roofer’s numbers and do not measure on site.
- The job address and a contact for questions.
- Profile: snap-lock or mechanical lock, seam height and panel width.
- Metal, gauge or thickness, finish and color.
- For each roof plane: the panel length, the number of panels at that length, and the pitch.
- Trim and flashing: piece type, length and quantity, with a sketch for any custom bend.
- Delivery or pickup, and any access limits at the site for long panels.

How fast are quotes, fabrication and delivery?
Written quotes go out within 24-48 hours of your cut list or plans. Standing seam panels are typically ready in 1-2 days.
Architectural and commercial jobs get shop drawings for approval where the job calls for them. Then we fabricate the panels and trim.
We deliver within about a 5-hour drive of our New Brunswick shop: New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland. Delivery cost is quoted with the order. You can also pick up at the shop during office hours, Monday–Friday 7 AM–5 PM.

What should your roofer plan for besides the panels?
Underlayment, clips, snow guards and any solar mounts. The panel maker’s installation instructions govern each one.

What seam heights do you make?
1, 1.5, 1.75 and 2 inches. Our snap-lock panel has a 1.75-inch seam, and our mechanical lock panel has a 1.5-inch seam.
Is snap-lock or mechanical lock better for a New Jersey house?

Do you make copper and zinc standing seam?
Yes. Our mechanical lock 1.5-inch panel is made in 16 oz copper and in 0.7 or 0.8 mm zinc, as well as in Galvalume steel and aluminum.
Do you measure the roof?
No. We are a fabricator and do not measure on site. Your roofer measures each panel run and the trim, and field dimensions are the roofer’s responsibility.
Is there a minimum order?
No. A small porch roof is welcome as well as a full house. Custom (non-stock) colors carry a minimum quantity.
Can I pick up my order at the shop?
Yes, during office hours. We also deliver within about a 5-hour drive of the shop, and delivery cost is quoted with the order.
