We make pole barn metal roofing in NJ: AG and PBR panels run on our own AG and PBR roll formers and cut to the lengths on your cut list. Ridge, eave, rake and corner trim are made to match. What are AG and PBR panels?
Both are exposed-fastener steel panels for barn and metal building roofs and walls, held by screws through the face. AG panels are the agricultural profile; PBR panels have 1-1/4-inch ribs and a purlin-bearing leg at the side lap.
We run both on our own roll formers, so each panel comes off the machine at the length you order. A barn roof can then run in single panels from eave to ridge.
AG panel or PBR panel: which fits your building?
AG panels suit barns, sheds and farm buildings where economy matters most. PBR panels suit larger pole buildings and metal buildings that call for the purlin-bearing side lap.
| Spec | AG panel | AMP PBR panel |
|---|---|---|
| Fastening | Exposed fasteners | Exposed fasteners |
| Coverage | About 36″, typical for AG profiles | 36″ (39″ overall width) |
| Rib depth | Listed with your quote | 1-1/4″ |
| Side lap | Rib overlap | Purlin-bearing (overlap) leg |
| Steel | Gauge listed with your quote | 24 or 22 gauge; 26 gauge for agricultural use on request |

The purlin-bearing leg is a short extra flange on the overlapping edge of a PBR panel. It rests on the purlin under the side lap, so the lap is supported where the panels meet.
Full PBR details are on the AMP PBR panel page. Our guide to AG panel vs PBR panel compares the two for barns and pole buildings in more depth.

Which trim comes with barn and pole-building panels?
Ridge caps, eave trim, rake trim and corner trim, formed to match the panels on our 10-foot CNC folder.
- Ridge caps along the peak
- Eave trim along the low edge of the roof
- Rake trim along the gable ends
- Inside and outside corner trim for the walls
- Custom pieces bent from your sketch
List each trim piece with its length and quantity, and sketch anything custom. See custom trim and brake metal for the shapes we form.
Which gauge and finish should a barn roof use?
PBR comes in 24 and 22 gauge steel, and 26 gauge is available on request for agricultural use. The gauge and finish for AG panels are listed on your quote.
Painted finishes are PVDF (Kynar 500 type) or SMP, and SMP is the economical pick for many farm buildings. Finish warranties come from the coil maker; see finish warranties.
Build to your building designer’s drawings, since site snow and wind values set the framing and the gauge. For snow on metal roofs, see snow guards for metal roofs.
