Is Hunterdon too far west for a New Brunswick shop?
No. Hunterdon is one of the eight counties we deliver to, and the order is planned so the distance does not change what arrives.
Panels are cut to the lengths on your cut list and the trims are formed before the order leaves the shop. If a barn sits at the end of a long farm lane, describe the access and the longest panel length when you ask about delivery to your job. Builders who prefer to haul their own material can pick up at the shop.
Barns, sheds and equipment buildings
Exposed-fastener panels are the practical choice for most farm buildings. They span between purlins or girts, go up quickly for the builder and cost less than standing seam.
PBR panels
Our PBR corrugated panels are the metal-building staple: a deep, wide rib with a purlin-bearing leg, for roofs and walls on pole barns and equipment sheds.
7.2 Rib
The AMP 7.2 Rib spaces its 1.5-inch-deep ribs 7.2 inches apart, which helps it span farther on larger farm and commercial buildings.
Corrugated
Classic corrugated panels suit run-in sheds, small barns and outbuildings that should look traditional.
Slope matters for lapped panels. The model residential code sets a 3:12 minimum for lapped, non-soldered-seam metal panels without lap sealant, or 1/2:12 with applied sealant. Many manufacturers set higher minimums, and their instructions govern. On a low-pitch shed roof, send the pitch with your cut list and we will flag a problem before we quote.
Farmhouses and country homes: standing seam for the long haul
For a house you plan to keep, standing seam is a common choice. It hides its fasteners, moves with the seasons on clips and can be detailed around old chimneys and dormers.
Hunterdon is a county of owner-occupants. Census QuickFacts shows an owner-occupied housing rate of 85.1 percent for 2020 to 2024. Owners who expect to stay tend to weigh service life above first cost, which suits a metal roof.
Older farmhouses often need more than panels. We form painted flashing for stone chimneys, with copper available on request, and liners for built-in gutters. Your roofer adds snow retention over porches. See our standing seam page for profiles, gauges and finishes.

Snow, cold and the 5A climate zone
Hunterdon sits in New Jersey’s colder energy code zone, 5A, along with Somerset and Morris (DCA Bulletin 22-1). Snow loads here come from the address, with a 35 psf fallback.
State guidance in DCA Bulletin 19-1 sends designers to ASCE 7-based hazard tools for the exact site. When a tool cannot return a value, Hunterdon may use 35 psf. Ridge-top farms can differ from river-valley lots, so the designer should work from the address rather than a guess.
An ice barrier at the eaves is not a code requirement in Hunterdon; New Jersey limits that rule to Sussex County. Many roofers still lay one on homes, because ice can back up at a cold eave.

The Delaware River towns
Lambertville, Stockton, Frenchtown and Milford line the river with older commercial blocks, churches and closely spaced houses. Their roofs and roof edges need careful sheet metal.
- Box gutter liners for older houses and storefronts
- Metal coping and counter-flashing for brick and stone parapets
- Copper or zinc for bays, porches and church details, available on request
If a building is in a locally designated historic district, the town may require review of exterior changes under New Jersey’s Municipal Land Use Law. Ask the municipality before you order a material or color.

Hunterdon County questions
Do you make metal panels for barns and pole buildings in Hunterdon County?
Yes. We fabricate PBR, corrugated and 7.2 Rib panels for barns, sheds and equipment buildings, and standing seam for houses. Each is cut to the lengths on your builder’s cut list.
What snow load applies to a roof in Hunterdon County?
The value comes from your exact address using ASCE 7-based tools, per DCA Bulletin 19-1. If a tool cannot return a number, the state allows 35 psf in Hunterdon.
Can you deliver long panels to a farm at the end of a lane?
Ask about delivery to your job and describe the access, including the longest panel on the order. If a delivery does not suit the site, the order can be picked up at our New Brunswick shop.
Can exposed-fastener panels go on a low-slope shed roof?
Sometimes. The model residential code sets 3:12 as the minimum for lapped panels without lap sealant, or 1/2:12 with applied sealant, and manufacturers may require more. We check the pitch you send before we quote.
Do I need a permit to re-roof my house in Hunterdon County?
For a detached one- or two-family house, generally no: New Jersey treats the new roof covering as ordinary maintenance. Attached and commercial buildings generally need a permit, and historic-district rules can still apply. Your roofer should confirm with the construction office.
Is Hunterdon County too far away for you?
No. Hunterdon is on our delivery list. Panels are cut to length and trims are formed in our shop before the order leaves, so the distance does not change what arrives.
